“Mimbreno Deer Hunter” was embossed in gold on white card stock. A background was created by stamping in gold on purple card stock with “Sunburst, Sm.”, “Anasazi Dragonfly #2, Sm.”, “Return Symbol, Sm.”, “Mimbreno Dog #1″(Discontinued), and “Zuni Thunderstorm.” A strip of homemade paper was glued to the middle of the background piece and two feathers with yarn were glued to the band. The deer hunter was layered on gold card stock and glued to the strip and the background. This entire piece was layered on gold card stock and a purple card. Card by Judy Conklin.
Domino preparation: Lightly sand a white domino until the sheen is gone. Add Gesso (white) to the top and sides. When dry, paint with a stipple brush using Lumiere paints (colors metallic olive green 562, Sunset Gold 554 and Metallic Russet 566). “Kokopelli #3”, “Mimbreno Deer Hunter”, “Mimbreno Swallows” were stamped onto white tissue paper with black Brilliance ink. Using a soft brush, PPA was applied on the domino and Kokopelli was applied, then bits/pieces cut out of these stamps were applied. Heat set the images before applying another coat of PPA over the tissue. On the sides of the domino, the words, “Apache” and “Mimbres” were stamped using alphabet stamps. On the ends, stamp “AND”. Heat set the words and apply Crystal Lacquer. Any color can be used; however green was used in this sample. It takes several hours to lacquer the top and all the sides. The sample shown here is a minibus gift box and the domino was used for the main focus on the top of the box. Gift box by Lee Ann Atencio.
